Colorful Custom Watercolor Wedding Suite featuring Books, Flowers & Cats! | Real Weddings

You’re going to love these whimsical custom wedding invitations. I enjoyed creating this colorful wedding stationery featuring vintage elements and a furry friend!

“Something bright, fun, and memorable”

Liz and Aaron wanted to incorporate so many fun elements from their lives into this wedding suite. Their wedding venue was at a former women’s club & library, the bride is a children’s librarian who loves whimsical illustrations, and they have a sweet, tabby cat named Dwayne!

When ask about the vibe they wanted for their custom wedding stationery, they said, “Definitely NOT formal or traditional. Quirky and fun!” They wanted something bold and bright to celebrate their wedding day with their family and friends.

After our initial meeting, I created a fun, floral design with all of the quirky elements they were looking for! Check out the idea from my rough sketch to the final mockup.

The Final Product

By Andrea Krout Photography

For the florals I painted lots of vibrant flowers to match the palette of pinks, corals, and teals.

To really play up the librarian angle, I created a custom folder with pocket that opens just like a book! The main invitation information is on the front cover, and inside are the details and reply card. The details card is mounted to the inside of the folder and has artwork of vintage books with bright colors.

The reply card is nested in the pocket on the inside, just like the old library cards you used to get stamped. The art mimics the grid from those library cards.

They wanted to include their fur baby as an accent element, so you’ll see him peeking up on the front invitation, hanging out on the bookshelf inside, and leaving paw prints on the reply card. The art even wraps around the back of the “book” where you see his tail from behind the florals.

Plus, the addition of the watercolor hand-lettering for the names and accents adds to the fun, whimsical feel of the whole design. It fit their day perfectly!
