Pocket Wedding Invitation Ideas to Up Your Stationery Game

Category: All About Wedding Invitations | Published on: Feb 15, 2016

If you’re looking to jazz up your wedding invites, but don’t quite have the budget for anything too fancy (such as letterpress, foil, or laser cut designs), consider the pocket wedding invitation.

Pocket wedding invitations are a great way to jazz up your stationery without a huge expense. This peony wedding invitation is mounted in a gold pocket.

What’s a pocket wedding invitation?

Pockets (or pocketfolds) are folders for organizing your invites. Pockets typically have one panel that’s flat, where you mount the invitation, and a second panel with a pocket to keep your reply card and enclosure cards together.

To pocket or not to pocket?

Pocket wedding invitations are great for a few reasons:

  • They’re like opening a gift, so they make your guests feel special.
  • They dress up invitations that are otherwise plain.
  • They keep everything organized, which is important if you have a lot of enclosure cards.

Of course, there are a few things to remember if you’re going to do pocket wedding invitations:

  • They can’t replace your envelope, so you still have to get envelopes in addition to the pockets.
  • They do take time to assemble, so make sure you have the time (or the budget to pay for assembly).
  • They will make your invites weight more, which may push up the cost of your postage. Always get a complete sample weighed before you stamp anything!

Dressing up your pockets

Just like with everything, there’s plenty of ways to dress up your pocket wedding invitations!

Color

Pocket are available in a huge range of colors, including mattes and metallics. Choose a bright pocket color that coordinates with your overall color theme. Don’t feel you have to be too matchy-matchy.

Size
