Tranquil Beach Save the Dates with Real Salt Water Taffy | Real Wedding
Category: Portfolio | Published on: Feb 13, 2018
This save the date box really shows off the out-of-the-box creativity that custom stationery has to offer. It’s exciting and fun, and does exactly what a save the date should do… it gets your guests excited for your wedding!
The Concept
Colleen approached me with the idea for a box of salt water taffy for her save the dates. Macaron boxes are all over Pinterest, but she wanted to take the basic idea and give it meaning.
Their wedding is in Ocean City, Maryland, which has a famous candy chain called Candy Kitchen. There’s about two every block up and down the Delaware/Maryland beaches! So, she ordered a few pounds of their salt water taffy and had them shipped to me for boxing up.
She also had an idea for a softer, less overwhelmingly-nautical beach theme, with light colors and soft watercolor. So we went with a sunrise beach scene in pastel colors.
The Painting
Painting landscapes is probably my favorite thing ever….
The Final Product
My mouth is watering just thinking about these!
The boxes open up to a soft bed of shredded tissue with the watercolor card. We printed on cotton paper, which is soft to the touch. Their wedding website is on the back.
Under the card, a sweet handful of salt water taffy is waiting! There’s just enough to get you thinking about summer evenings at the ocean. Yum!
