Custom Venue Suite Featuring Wadsworth Mansion | Real Wedding

Category: Portfolio | Published on: June 15, 2019

When your venue is as stunning as Wadsworth Mansion, of course you're going to show it off! I loved working on this suite that incorporated classic elements with personal touches.

The Concept

Shannon and Tory found me through their planner, Creative Concepts by Lisa, in Connecticut. (We worked together on the Southwest Cactus suite that was in Connecticut Bride magazine!)

They wanted to show off the venue by including custom watercolor painting, but also wanted to include a very personal touch. When the bride's mother had gotten married, she had ivy in her bouquet. After the wedding, she planted it and it was still growing today! So the bride was including ivy from the same plant in her own bouquet, and wanted to include ivy in the suite.

I, of course, loved it! My favorite thing is when a client has something immensely personal to go in their stationery. I developed a design that including flowing ivy on each piece, connecting the whole suite. They had a few before and after events planned around the day, so they had several insert cards. I wanted to use the ivy element to keep everything cohesive.

The Painting

I painted both the front and the back of the Mansion, as well as several ivy leaves to use for creating the ivy elements in the suite.

Typically, when painting floral elements that I plan to reuse, I paint several leaves and/or blooms separately so that I can mix and match them on the computer.

The Final Product

We spent a good amount of time thinking about the feel of the suite, not just how it looked! They wanted something warm and tactile. We chose a soft white cotton paper, and included letterpress and gold foil printing for a suite that really makes an impact.

I seriously can't get over these, and neither could the couple!

"We loved how responsive you were each and every time that we had a question or requested change. You actively listened to our thoughts and opinions, and seemed to be able to take the thoughts from our heads and transfer them directly to our invitations! And, obviously, your work was absolutely stunning.

"Couples and customers should not be afraid to ask questions, and speak their mind - there were moments where we felt bad making so many requests or changes, but you graciously accepted all of our thoughts and in the end we received an invitation that was exactly what we had imagined!

"Aside from everything above, we would tell friends and family that you take the time to commit to each of your wedding couples, and devote all of your time and energy as if we were your number one priority, from beginning to end. You have a wide range of skills, and your work creates personal, unique and beautiful pieces!

"We are so grateful to have worked with you, and our wedding invitations were one of our very favorite details from our wedding. We are so glad to be able to save our invitation for years to come, and cannot wait to show our children some day!"
